Fall Prevention in Southwell

Balance and Falls Physiotherapy at Home

Improve balance, build strength and maintain your confidence with personalised fall prevention physiotherapy delivered in the comfort of your own home.

A fall – or even the fear of falling – can have a significant impact on your confidence and independence. After a fall, it is understandable to become more cautious about moving around, going outdoors or taking part in activities you previously enjoyed. Over time, this can lead to reduced activity, loss of strength and greater social isolation.

However, falls are not an inevitable part of getting older. With the right assessment, targeted exercises and practical support, it is possible to improve strength, balance, mobility and confidence, helping you remain active and independent for longer.

At Home 1st Physiotherapy, we provide fall prevention in Southwell and the surrounding areas, bringing specialist falls and balance physiotherapy directly to your home.

Why Choose Home-Based Fall Prevention?

Your home is where many everyday falls and trips can occur, so assessing your mobility within your own environment can provide valuable insight into the risks you may face.

A home visit allows your physiotherapist to look at how you move around your actual living space, identify potential hazards and work with you on practical strategies to make everyday movement safer.

We can also consider how you manage activities such as getting out of a chair, moving between rooms, using stairs and getting up from the floor, helping your rehabilitation focus on the situations that are most relevant to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Home 1st Physiotherapy

I have put together some of my most common questions but if there is anything that is not covered here that you wish to know please contact me.

Do you need a large space to assess in?

No, we are used to working in all people’s home, no matter what the size. We just ask that if there are any hazards such as wet floors or tripping hazards that you make us aware when we arrive.

Do you accept Case Management Patients?

Yes, absolutely. I welcome referrals from Case Managers, solicitors, and insurers looking for high-quality, community-based physiotherapy for their clients.

If you are a Case Manager looking to instruct a physiotherapist, please get in touch via email or phone to discuss your client's needs.

I am on the waiting list for NHS treatment - can you help me?

Yes! We can contact your NHS Physiotherapist and work in conjunction with them to ensure that you have the optimal care. You will still be entitled to all your usual NHS Treatment.

I have pets, is this ok?

Yes!, we just ask that you put all dogs into a separate room so that we can work without distraction. We also request that you inform us about any pets in the initial 10 minute telephone conversation just so that we are aware.

Can my family/friends attend my appointments?

Yes! We welcome Family and Friends attending the appointment, we just request that this is kept to a maximum of 2 if possible to maximise the use of the time.

Can you work along side my NHS Physiotherapist?

Yes, Private and NHS physiotherapy can work hand-in-hand to support your recovery.

Here is how we ensure seamless, coordinated care:

  • Private visits can fill in the gaps between your scheduled NHS appointments, providing extra hands-on time, rehabilitation, or progress checks.
  • With your permission, I am happy to liaise with your NHS physiotherapist, GP, or consultant. Sharing treatment plans and updates ensures everyone is working toward the same goals.
  • If your NHS therapy comes to an end but you feel you still have progress to make, we can smoothly transition your treatment to keep your momentum going.

Your health and recovery are the top priority—working collaboratively with your existing healthcare team simply ensures you get the best possible outcome.
