The Senior MOT
Introducing ‘The Senior MOT’. A service that we have specifically created with the Older Adult in Mind. As we age, it has become accepted within our society that we develop aches and pains, become less fit and active and have a reduction in our mobility- Nonsense! This does not have to be the way!
So, with that in mind we have created ‘the Senior MOT’
A fully comprehensive Physiotherapy assessment for the older Adult. Designed to aid your future self remain fit, active and healthy into your older years. Each appointment will last approximately 50 minutes as include:
- Observations including blood Pressure, Oxygen Saturations and Heart Rate
- Neurological Screen including Reflexes and Muscle tone
- Falls and Balance Assessment
- Breathing Pattern Assessment
- Posture Assessment
- Mobility and Gait Assessment
- Muscle strength and power
- Flexibility Assessment
Following the assessment, you will be provided with a bespoke Physiotherapy programme with your goals and lifestyle in mind.
Musculoskeletal
Pain is a debilitating condition which can limit your activities, cause isolation and lead to low mood.
We can reduce pain through Physiotherapy treatments including manual techniques, soft tissue techniques and specific exercises. We strongly believe in treating the source of the pain not just the symptoms.
Home 1st Physiotherapy Supports people with problems such as arthritis/joint pain, muscle/tendon injuries, fractures, back/neck problems and muscle weakness to improve their mobility function.
We can assess you in a variety of settings to get to the root of the problem including the Golf Course, The gym and at your sporting Club.
Mobility
I can provide individualised physiotherapy programmes to aid with improving your mobility for whatever reason you may find that this has reduced.
After a comprehensive assessment, I will assess the reason for your reduced mobility and provide support to aid with regaining his. Whether this may be mobility aid assessment, specific muscle training or a tailored exercise programme.
Balance/Falls
Falls are the second leading cause of unintentional death worldwide. Research shows that adults over the age of 60 suffer the most fatal falls.
I can offer a full balance/falls assessment which will identify the key areas that will make you more prone to falls including, environmental, medication, reduced fitness/muscle imbalance, vestibular causes, vision and mobility/walking patterns.
Physiotherapy will aim to reduce the risk of future falls and improve your confidence and therefore your quality of life. I can provide education and support and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a holistic programme to reduce your falls risk.
Stroke/Neurological
I can provide rehabilitation for a variety of neurological conditions. These include a new or old stroke or long-term neurological condition management e.g., MS or Parkinson’s Disease.
Research shows that 17 hours of physiotherapy over a 10-week period has found to be necessary in improving body function and participation after a stroke. The National Clinical Guidelines advocate at least 45 minutes of daily therapy to optimise outcomes.
I provide realistic physiotherapy programmes to achieve your short- and long-term goals. I can provide education regarding condition management.
Respiratory
After working within the community, providing physiotherapy to individuals with chronic respiratory conditions, I have gained a vast array of Knowledge within this area.
I can Provide advice and physiotherapy for individual with respiratory conditions including but not limited to - COPD, Bronchiectasis, Chronic Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis.
Services offered include cough management, secretions clearance techniques, pulmonary rehabilitation (Exercise and education), pacing advice and breathlessness management. Support can also be offered regarding inhaler technique and medication optimisation.
Covid-19 Rehabilitation
Covid-19 Rehabilitation service offered. Rehabilitation programmes are formulated in accordance with the CSP Community Covid Rehabilitation Standards and can be formulated for Acute Covid-19 (less than 4 weeks) or for Long Covid (more than 4 weeks).
10% of people that have Covid-19 experience at least one symptom for 12 weeks or longer. Covid-19 can cause a multitude of symptoms which can be persistent or intermittent and can also change frequently.
With a tailored physiotherapy programme, we can target these symptoms and aid with your recovery. Support can include but not be limited to cough management/suppression techniques, pacing advice, chest clearance advice, fatigue management and a structured, graded exercise programme to help you regain your fitness and activity levels.
